Bilbao, the city you always wanted to visit

Bilbao is my hometown, and I've always lived there. It's located in the north of Spain, and it's the capital of Biscay. I think this city is more beautiful everyday, as the Bilbao has changed a lot in the last 50 years, but the worst things of living here is that it rains a lot!. Bilbao is also known for it's industry and it's cultural attractions such as the Guggenheim Museum.

There are lots of things to do in Bilbao, but the most famous are the museums. The Guggenheim Museum is one of them. However, you can also see the old part of the city, where there are churches, markets and shops. You can also go to Artxanda, where the view of Bilbao is fantastic.

It's possible to do some sport too. The beaches of the coast of Biscay are very good for surfing or for other water sports. Lots of surfers come here just to surf. Some of the beaches were you can practise these sports are Sopelana, Bakio or Laga. The sea is great at summer, when the weather is much better and you can have a swim. You can also try the "Herri Kirolak" or the typical basque sports, which have lasted for centuries.

Bilbao, is also very famous for the "pintxos" or snacks which are a great meal. Most of the bars in Bilbao prepare these curious aperitifs, which are very varied. If you want to try them you only have to go to the Plaza Nueva and go to any of the bars there. However there are lots of good restaurants and cooks. Maybe, some of these cooks are Karlos Arguiñano or Juan Mari Arzak.

Finally, if what you really like is architecture, you can visit lots of spectacular buildings. For example, the Arriaga theatre or the Chávarri palace are very interesting. We can also find more modern buildings, such as the Isozaki Gate, the Basque Health Department Headquarters or the tower of Iberdrola, which is being built at the moment.

So, if you are planning a trip, Bilbao is a great city, where you'll enjoy some holiday. Don't think it twice! Bilbao is waiting for you!
